by Michael Jones In Seoul there are endless choices of cafes to pick from. Some are bad, some are mediocre, and a few are outstanding. Caffé Themselves is an outstanding café. This shop is located near Jonggak Station and the Cheonggyecheon stream. The shop has been around for over 10 years and it’s a great place to drink coffee, buy beans, and meet with friends. Caffé Themselves is a beautiful shop and the coffee selection is great. I frequent this shop often and always buy single origin beans from them. A 200g bag usually costs around 10,000 won. The first floor revolves around the beautiful barista station. In the back bags of fresh coffee beans are stacked along the wall. They even sell Café Libre beans. Libre sells some of the best coffee beans in Seoul, so it’s always nice seeing their wrestling mask logo. The second floor is open and has plenty of seating and natural light. It’s a wonderful café to sit at, study, meet with friends, or simply enjoy a magnificent cup of coffee. Although the atmosphere is wonderful, the real selling point is the coffee and it’s extraordinary. Prior to finding this café, my favorite coffee was the cold brew coffee at the Pancake Epidemic. I like the coffee at Caffé Themselves just as much, if not more than the coffee at the Pancake Epidemic, and it’s slightly cheaper. The cold brew coffee costs 6,000 won and the flavor is extremely rich and complex. I can’t recommend this place enough. All the prices range from about 3,000-7,000 and the takeout discount is 2,000 won for any drink. They also have a great stamp card policy and will even give you stamps for takeout coffee. If you love coffee do yourself a favor and visit Cafe Themselves.
Directions: Go to Jonggak station, exit 12. Cross the road (Samil-daero) and turn right at the Burger King. Caffe Themselves will be on your left.
